44 hp INTAKE
You are correct. The K&N 63 series is like most others in that it pulls the hot engine heat from near the driver's fender. The Volant system is basically a stock system with a high performance filter and a hose running down. The problem with this system is that it is fairly restrictive. The K&N, Mopar, and your questioned F5 are definately not restrictive, but must get cool air from another source -- in my case from the front grill area. I can run in lots of heat and the chrome top of my CAI is much, much cooler than the tube itself.

Mapson, The phrases "There's a sucker is born every minute", or "Let the buyer beware" or even "a fool and his money are soon departed" are good phrases to remember when a company wants your hard earned money. Marketing tricks can make a product look great, but they often leave out several key factors. Maybe the chart is after headers were added WITH the intake, but they don't tell you, for instance. Who knows where the chart actually came from and who knows what the facts were to come up with such a claim. Many of us old timers have bought and lost -- I did with a $700 Magnaflow exhaust system that "sounded" great to have -- I bought it and hated it. I ended up using only parts of it to keep it from driving me out of the car from DRONE.
Please look at other claims on the internet. Look at ebay for other similar products. See the HP claims they have. Although F5 produce good products, 44 HP seems way too much just for an air intake. Talk to drag racers or ricer friends and look at time slips. Don't trust "seat of the pants" stories. Stories are stories and are often BS. Get some facts. Even my K&N offered 12 HP ratings -- frankly I have actually no idea. I don't have a dyno. So the strip for time trials is the only place to go for me to try out actual real world facts. Haven't been there this year.
So to test this truely, it should have been done with ONLY changing the CAI by itself and running the same hour, with temps, wind, heat, and weight of car the same. Otherwise who knows?
Be smart. If it's too good to be true -- it probably is.
