Charger SRT & R/T drive off on Speed Channel??
Did anyone catch the show on the Speed Channel the other night comparing the R/T & SRT-8 after their guys supposedly souped them up? I only caught the last 2 minutes or so just by chance flipping thru the channels. They had what looked like GoManGo Chargers, one was a regular R/T (no Daytona stripe) and an SRT-8. The comments on the SRT-8 was they couldn't outdo what DCX had already done when they tried to improve acceleration, handling and braking. They said the SRT was doing the 1/4 mile in 13.6 and the R/T did it in 13.7.
Just curious if anyone knew what the show was and the rest of the story.

I didn't see the program but I'll bet they play it again. Speed TV repeats most of there progarms several times a month. I will be watching for it.
Thanks for the heads up

I have heard that, although the SRT is the "big" boy on the block, it runs more like a small block. If they couldn't improve on the SRT, and we know that the 5.7 does respond to some add ons, they could be pretty close in the end. The torque ratings, IIFC, are not that far apart. With a little tweeking, I think we have been able to improve the torque on our Daytonas and R/Ts, so that would help with launch. It would then come down to top end hp, and if the truth be known, I'd bet were not that far off from the stock SRTs.

I also recall they mentioned 0-60 times between the R/T and the SRT-8 and that's where the SRT really had it over the R/T. The SRT was in the mid fives while the R/T was in the low sixes. It surprised me how close they were doing the 1/4 mile. Braking distances from 60mph to 0 were also comparable. There was some slalom testing as well around the cones.
I hope they air the program again. I happened to catch the tail end of it during the 2am feeding for my baby girl. I tried to look it up on the Speed Channel web site but no joy. They are going to have programs coming up on the old Daytona Charger and Superbird in September as well as some 300C stuff at DCX's Chelsea testing grounds.

Dodgegirl,
I never have figured out why you'd need to do a burn out on street tires, first of all... warming up slicks I'd understand.
Probably average time for a slightly modified SRT8. Nothing to write home about -- with 425 horses, I'd hope you could be in the 12 second club...

I should be up at those times so I'll check it out. If they are like every other cable channel they'll repeat the program through-out the day.
