Check out this site krcperformance.com for cam's. Add 35HP for $400 but using the mds may not be possible.

3767,

Also a good place is Comp Cams. They have three cams out, reportedly giving 31, 47, and 61 HP. However, I believe they used headers in their testing, and THAT alone would give more HP.

I am sorry I don't have the specs on the 5.7 cam, but oddly, I have them for the 6.1 -- .521 intake lift, 202/205 at .50". The only thing I know about the 5.7 cam is that it is hollow (weight savings). (Not for the car, for the engine -- when building an engine nowadays, light, light, light is the key here... [ ie, titanium spring retainers, etc]).

Comp cams are XFI 260 = .522/.525, 208/212(.50), (31+HP); XFI 268 = .528/.531, 216/220(.50), (47+HP); XFI 273 = .547/.550, 224/228(.50), (61+HP). Of course, you must change valve train components since the MDS would be inoperative and engine damage would occur if tried. Beehive springs, new tappets, push rods, etc would have to be installed.

I liked the performance of the 268, but would probably get the 260 for street use, the 273 is way to wild for me. That's just me. But think about this: the Charger is heavy, and second, these cams are designed to work in the upper ranges 4,000 RPMs and up. Since we have auto transmissions, soon, the cam must be bolstered by higher torque converters, then bigger tires, then headers, then stronger U joints, and on and on -- the list becomes endless...

Doesn't just NOS look good about now?

Half the fun is dreaming about what to do...

Well krcperformance offers a 206LX cam which can give 25HP while no there engine modifaction are needed not even headers. If you want to bigger for like 35HP or 50HP you need custom tuning and mds lifters are needed but they are not expensive.

Here's the information I have:

Like others I have found the 5.7 cam information to be elusive. Stock lift is .472/.460 and the biggest issue is w/MDS you can't go beyond .500 inches of lift and run correctly.

The 6.1 has two different cams:
The original CAM was 5037379-AB: .521"/.521" lift, 205/211 degrees at .050" on 116 LSA
The AB was replaced by the AC: .540"/.528" lift, 208/211 degrees at .050" on 114 LSA

As you can see from the numbers the 6.1 has too much lift for MDS so disable MDS if you’re going w/one of these.
