The truck also has significantly more wind resistance. Not a big deal on an 1/8 mile, but in a 1/4 mile and 100mph, it really eats up horsepower...

Do not let the SRT10 ram intimidate you. My old boss had an early 06 SRT10 Ram Quad cab. After I bought my 06 charger R/T in may we raced em. I am stock with the R/T performance group. He definately has way more power but they are putting all that througha 3/4 ton didge truck trans and rear end. The think roars like its going to take off and then nothing really. If you are going stop light to stoplight you can beat him every time with a decent launch. We raced 4 times that day and I won all but one. If we got to a corner or it was a short run he did not stand a chance. The one he beat me we were on the freeway and once we hit about 110 he smoked me. All that power finally got to the ground and he was gone in a flash.

Long story short is go ahead and race him just avoid the freeway.

After the 1/4 mile race, how about a run down a slalom course, just to be fair...

For a truck, they are pretty darn good on a road course, with the right drver and a high speed track, the truck might actally win. It's biggest weakness is weight transfer on a slalom course. Even with the fat tires it comes with, it still wants to plow.

If you want an SRT to really worry about beating, it is the Jeep Cherokee SRT8. With 4 wheel drive, it does 0-60 in 4.8 sec, on wet or dry pavement. It was the favorite vehicle of many of the drivers at the SRT Track experience.

3796,

I could have used a couple Acme rockets on my Daytona when I got mixed up with a Mercury Maurader. We hit it at 55 side by side and by the time I got to 80 I couldn't read his license plate - he was that far ahead. Hmm. I told my boy about the exhaust tone was a high tone when he was next to me and may have been supercharged, I don't know. Win some, lose some...
