Charger out, Avenger in????
I read that Dodge is going to the Avenger for it's "World Car" in NASCAR this year. Can anyone confirm this? I know that our Chargers were designed, to some extent, with the NASCAR template in mind, i.e., to give it more down force. Then, NASCAR changed the template and messed up what everyone thought was going to be a great aero package. Anyone know anything more about this?

Here's the post... https://dodgeforum.com/m_667983/tm.htm
Well, NASCAR has finally lost it. I don't like it at all. Nothing against the Avenger. It's all of them. Without paint and stickers, the are all the same. And what is up with that rinky dink looking chin spoiler? And that rear deck spoiler? NASCAR has indeed finally managed to completely ruin the sport. There were a couple programs on CMT tonight about the legends of NASCAR, etc. Back then, you could actually tell a Dodge from a Chevy, from a Ford, from a Buick, from a, well, you get the idea. It's too bad. Just too damned bad. NASCAR has managed to take a good sport, i.e., "stock" car racing, and turn it into a 3-ring circus. But, that's just my humble opinion.

Every year, you have new cars coming out, new aero packages, different tracks respond better to certain makes/brands.......well NASCAR had enough of the whining and having to constantly change things on every car at every track.
I think the COT makes a lot of sense from the standpoint that everyone will have to run the same car regardless. No advantages to brands or teams. The only advantage is your pit crew and driver.
Personally, it was only a matter of time. I think NASCAR will actually be better for the change. It'll mean more focus on drivers then on the car they're driving. We wont hear any more excuses about aero packages or nose fronts or whatever...
The way the cars are designed, are to give the most downforce and air to the car without sacrificing performance or safety....they dont look great....but they perform well...

While I do agree with you....here's the problem...

Sorry for the rant. Maybe I'm just an old fart who doesn't know his a$$ from his elbow, but, IMHO, NASCAR is ruining what was once a very good thing.

Your right Dave, the NASCAR bureaucracy has ruined things trying to “make all things equalâ€. That’s why I don’t go out of my way to follow it anymore.
I like the regression approach back to slot or pinewood derby cars

Brand loyalty? What's that? How much will so-and-so pay to have "you" drive for him? You pay me more, I drive for you. That's what happened to brand loyalty.
