After market suspension
A little off subject but, can you add the self leveling NIVOMATS to a standardR/T without the tow package or is there other equipment required? I would like to have the self leveling option but did'nt want to pay for it from the dealer when we bought it??
Thanks, Kirk

74scamp The R/T, R/T Road and Track, and the Daytona all have the same ride height. The SRT however sits lower with the performance suspension. E-bay sometimes have theSRT suspensions listed, maybe thats the way to go.
A fello from another forum with a Magie R/T came over to my place we put Hotchkis sways on his ride and while we were at it we also put my old Nivomats on. He liked the ride and enjoyed taking corners faster with more confidence.
As far as the Nivomats are concerned we didswap the shocks & springs.

While at the dealer, complaining about the relatively sloppy ride of the Charger RT (ie body roll, excessive flipping and instability in quick steering manuervers, etc), he said that there were 3 shocks, ligh, medium, and heavy, and that thsi car had the mediums. We were looking to change out the mediums for the heavy's at some point. Does any one know what he was talking about and if it makes sense in the Dodge parts lineup? Would the heavy shocks be more of a Daytona shock. I agree with the general thread started by scamp74, it would be nice if the suspension was a bit more progressive. I not only feel it would be nice, in some regards its almost imperative. This suspension is way sloppier than say other cars I have had; including such recent cars as the '96 Impala (not so recent; i keep them a long time). Unless my suspension is an anomoly.
You sure spend a lot of time w/your dealer
Inherently the weight of the car makes the suspension an issue.
If you’re talking about swapping out for Nivomats in the rear which the Daytona and towing packages come with, shop around. The Nivomats are self leveling and don’t lend themselves to future suspension mods. I saw in other threadsyourresearchingswaybar upgrades. Talk to anyone that has done it and you will find that everyone that has upgraded sways will say it's worth your time and money.
