After market suspension
Who here has changed the springs out and, my main question, did you compare the new with the old? Did it appear - or maybe someone knows - that the new springs were wound differently, i.e., more progressively, etc.?
I'm thinking of getting Eibachs or something similar. My main goal is not the lowering of the car, but to get better controlledsuspension movement. Mine feels pretty stiff in the beginning of the wheel travel, then seems to get softer the further the suspension iscompressed.

Ok, so is a bit lower like an inch,ok?
From threads I'veseen you will get rid of the "boat" ride and will drop about 1" depending on manufacture.
Look into:
Eibach
Pedders
Gold Line

Yeah, that 1 inch or so lower is fine - that would bring it down to about what the Daytonas are, right? Aren't they about an inch or so lower than a standard R/T? But what I'm trying to figure out is are the after market springs a better progressive wind than the factory units. I suppose some folks might say replace the shocks and struts, but money is now a factor, i.e., the lack of it to completely change out everything. So, I need to try and find out the answer to my question before spending the money
. I don't want the ride to suffer, just more controlled and perhaps better able to "soak" up the small, expansion joint type bumps. Maybe I'm just asking for too much?

There are mixed feelings out there about the struts and shocks. Some say the stock ones will blow others say the stock ones are fine. I have'tread about someone blowing the stock strut/shocks out. On the flip side there isn't adefinitive answer yet [&:]
I've had correspondence with the folks at Pedders, and they agree with my assessment that the shocks, struts, and springs on the LX platform are under sprung and under damped. He said they have coils that will lower it about an inch, and they have some new, gas shocks and struts that they will be introducing at SEMA that will further help it. I've asked for some more info and we'll see what they have to say. I'm going to contact Eibach and, ummm, the other one you told me about

The Daytona or the ones with the tow package can't be lowered in back w/just springs. The self leveling Nivomats have to be taken off.

I have an R/T, not a Daytona. I suspect that the Daytona's suspension is much better than the standard R/Ts to start with. I think the Daytona is also about an inch or so lower to start with. But, yes, I can lower my R/T with just a change of springs. But it's not so much the lowering I'm looking for as it is a better, more compliant ride.

Yes, the Nivomats are gone. The ride is stiffer, you will loose the cushy ride going this way but you can feel the road much better.
If you order the R/T w/towing pkg you also have the Nivomats in the rear.
