Default oil filter for a 440

Just got a 77 D200 with a 440-1 under the hood. I was looking at oil filters and have a question. Book says its a PH43 (fram part number) bit I was comparing the "business end" of a couple of filters and have a question. Can a FL-1 (big Ford filter) be used instead of the smaller 43? The threads and seal appear to be the same and I always like a bit more filter area for my rides.

thanks

Bill

National Mopar is the answer

If the Threads are the same I couldn't see a problem with that

Both the "high performance" FL-1 and the PH8A will fit on Mopars. I run the 8A (or equivilant on my Mopars) because I prefer to run a 1qt filter as opposed to the 43 which is only 1/2qt. Which raises the total capacity (on small blocks anyway) to 6qts.
