What kind of truck? 1/2 ton? 1 1/2 ton? Pickup? Stake bed? What kind of engine? V-8? Flat 6? On V-8 engines, they had poly and hemi headed engines. Post a picture of your truck and the engine and we might be able to help you.

Vin code should tell you. I think. Not real sure on something that old. Finding a vin decoder for it might be a bit difficult as well......

Before the 1960's, there weren't VIN's as we know them today. There is a body number in the door but usually in most states, the engine number was the VIN. If you changed the engine, you had to get a new title. Most people didn't, but you were supposed to. In 1968 the VIN was in use and moved to the windshield so a police officer didn't need a warrant to check the VIN in case of a stolen car.

According to wikipedia (yeah, I know, sorry) this is a C-series, which was available with 4 engines, An inline 6 (230 cid), and three V8s, a 315, a 318 and a 331. That doesnt rule out the engine being changed along the way, or the very real possibility that wikipedia has it wrong. You should be able to check the VIN for the engine code, and then check the engine to see if they match. Sometimes its very obvious the engine has been changed. Good luck with the truck. Old dodge trucks are tough to work on. Parts are scarce and almost noone makes new ones.
