Default 57 D100 original tire size

Looking for new radial tires for our 57 Dodge D100 as close to the original size as possible in a radial. What was that size? Thanks.

6.70X15. I'm not sure what that will convert to as I can't find my conversion charts. I'd go with a little larger and meatier tire if I were you. You definitely want radials. I'd also look for 1960's or later rims. If you want the basic utility look, see if you can score some cop car rims with the matching dog dish hub caps. If you want to be a bit dressier, get 1960's or later wheel covers. I learned the hard way that radial tires and vintage wheel covers don't match. The third time I had to chase one down at speed on the highway, I put later wheel covers on.

Default Gross weight

Anyone know what the gross weight of our 1957 Dodge D100 might be. Wondering how heavy a truck tire I really need.

Its more along the line of how much weight do you want to carry. I would expect Load Range D tires should be adequate to the task for ya. (and possibly overkill. )

Depending on if you have the 7 1/2 or 6 1/2 foot bed, it varies. Assuming you have the long bed, curb weight is about 3800 pounds. GVW, if you stay with in manufacturers specifications was just under 5200 pounds loaded. I'd loaded those old trucks until they sat on the spring perches and they did just fine. Being a '57, I'm betting you're just wanting a fun driver that can haul the occasional piece of furniture. I don't think you need a truck tires. Now, if it has the old split rim wheels, definitely replace those with safety rims. (One piece design.) Passenger car tires should do just fine. I'm thinking a set of P225/70R15 tires will work just fine. Go with a 235 cross section if you want a meatier look. That size worked great on my '77 New Yorker Brougham 4 door hardtop and it weighed 5200 pounds empty. Maybe get a mild all terrain tread style so you can drive on grass at car shows.

Default 57 Dodge Wheels and Tires

Thank you everyone.
I purchased new wheels and tires (215X75RX15) for my wife's 57 Dodge and all is well. She loves the original look and smooth ride. With a new set of white dog dish hub caps she will be driving in complete style. Thank you all for your help and answering my questions.
