Default Key ignition switch Change in old 1950 coronet

I’ve been trying to find videos and stuff to tell me how to take the ignition out of the dash in my old cornet and i can’t find anything the only things that been popping up is how to change the ignition from cars from the 90s-early 2000s I need some help or something to know how to take my ignition out of the car itself to change it

Have a look at the back side of it, I suspect there is just a clip or something that holds it in.....

It's been a while since I fooled with an early 50's vehicle. I think there is a ring on the front that holds it in place. It may take a special spanner to unscrew it. You might be able to make a pair of snap ring pliers work. Once it starts turning it should just screw off. Once it's off, the switch will drop down and you can unhook the wires. Just take a photo of how the wires are done with your camera before you unhook them.

Do you have the floor start or key start?

I think it will be similar to my old 1954 Coronet. The switch assembly is held in place by a nut or ring. You might be able to use either a pair of pliers or a wrench. It depends on if it is a hex nut or a knurled ****. Once the ring is off, the assembly will come out inside the dash. Lower it below the dash and unhook the wires. The key switch itself is held in by either a pin or screw. The key cylinder will pop out when you undo or push a pin in. You might need to turn the key, but on these I don't think so. The key cylinder and the switch are two parts of an assembly.
