Default Help. Rear end identification

all, hoping for some help. Son and I started a rebuild of 57 dodge d200 that was my dad's. Been in pasture 50yrs. Anyway, its tore down but im struggling with what rearend it has. Doesn't match rockauto or other sites that have 10 bolt cover. I'm tearing bearings out to see if I can work backwards with their part numbers. Thx

I think it is a 8.75 but with a rear removable cover. Used of seeing them with the welded on covers. Here is another with one. https://classiccars.com/listings/vie...michigan-49601

I know. Doesn't appear to be Chrysler or dana. Has 12 bolt (not sure they count bottom drain bolt as13) I'm going to take wheel bearings and Seals to see their numbers. Inside housing gear and teeth look really good. Little flake rust above oil was.

Dana's have a distinctive shape cover and can id them easily. The housing looks like a 8.75 just with a removable back cover. I would assume they figured to weld on a stronger plate to the back instead of the removable plate would make them stronger. Have a look at the casting # on the carrier this will tell you.

Dodge used that rear end from late 1956 through 1958. I'll look around to see what I can find as far as internal parts but those are in different books. Not having used the books in 40 or so years, they will take some looking.
