Default 2001 4.7 overheated and now doesn't start

Hey guys,
This is my first post here. I have a 2001 Dodge Dakota with a 4.7.

First let me explain what my truck was doing. I had an exhaust leak under the passengar side seat. There was a hole in the pipe there where it meets the catalytic converter. After driving it for some time like that, it started to feel like it was missing and there was a small knock, almost like a valve was stuck or broke.

A while back I was driving a trip about 100 miles, when I got to my destination and turned off the engine, steam came out of the hood. It overheated. The funny thing is that it never said it was running hot on the temp sensor. After it cooled down, I filled it up with about 2 gallons of water, and it started right up. Checked the level and then started back home after the day was done. About half way home, I was driving the interstate and the same thing happened, although this time it just shut off, all the lights came on the dash, and I coasted to a stop. Same thing happened. There was no water in the system. It was overheated but never said anything on the temp sensor. After it cooled off, it wouldn't start back.

Here is what it does now. After towing it home, and trying to start it again, it sounds like it is spinning fast. Faster than normal. I used to be a mechanic so I have some tools and did a compression test on all 8 cylinders. The only ones I get pressure from is the first 2 on the driver side of the engine. The very front cylinder gets about 130 psi, while the second one back gets 100. All the other ones have 0 pressure. All spark plugs were out when I did this.

My thinking is that it jumped time, but with this being a newer engine, I am not sure how it is designed inside. These are my questions.

1. Is this anoverhead cam engine?
2.How is it possible to get areading so high on the first cylinder but nothing on all the others if not timing related?
3. I wonder if I will have to pull the heads to rebuild them.

I know I am probably looking at a rebuild, at least in the front end with the timing chain, but other than that, I am kinda stumped.

Any help on my problem would be awesome.

Thanks,

Try adding oil to thr cylinders that read zero, and reck your compression. if they come up then the rings had colapse from overheating, and do pressure test on the radiator too.
