Dakota 4X4 (activity indicator light)
I have a 1989 Dodge Dakota 3.9 liter 4X4.....there is an activity light at the base of the shift travel enclosure. This light is supposed to come on only when 4x4 is active. My light is always on....I suspect that the sensor is not reading correctly ...could someone link me to an illustratiuon of the sensor area and or offer any advice....thank you
As it turns out, the 4X4 indicator light is working but it stays in four wheel high position and won't return to two wheel high.So my truck is in the trannie shop.I just bought the truck and have been driving it this way for a little over a week.I drove it on a major hwy for 60 miles and return. I did notice a binding feel when turning but failed to realize that I was in 4 wheel high. I hope that this hasn't caused any damage to cv joints.I already replaced universals on main drive shaft, cleaned out both differentals and will be draining/refill transfer case fluid while its in the shop.I traced the vaccum lines to and from cannister (which appear to be good) also looked for any damaged/cracked vaccum hoses. There are two vaccum lines plugged with bolts, one is on top of manifold at base of throttle body and another coming from a wiring harness....? I beleive they have to remove the skid plate to gain access/check the actuator which is on the outside of the front differential.
Any comments...thoughts...advice..............-:thank you
