Default GAS MILAGE!

okay so

1992 dakota ( obviously)
318 v8
auto with OD
31x10.5x15 BFG mud terrains
new O2 sensor
new fuel filter
new cap and rotor
new plugs and wires

the problem!: it is a ***** on gas. its actually getting worse daily.

from empty it takes 60 L roughly [ apparently 16 gallons] ( not when the gas light is on)

and i dont drive the **** out of it but its lucky to see 280 KM [ apparently 173 miles] to a tank.

in the summer when i was driving it harder it was getting over 300 km to a tank easy..

thoughts!?

Yeah, i would agree with that. I have noticed since the weather is warming up, i am getting better mpg. My mpg inless than 30 degree temperatures sucks too.

I have the same tires as you do also (BFG Mud terrains 31"). They dropped my mpg by 1.5 when i put them on. Love the tires but the tread pattern is not friendly with mpg and they are pretty darn heavy. I have thought about lighter tires but have you seen the price of rubbers lately?

When was the last time you checked or replaced your Air filter? That can have an affect on your milage. I just put in a new K&N air filter and the last tank of mixed city and freeway driving increasd from 15.4avg MPG to 17.2 MPG one fill up.

winter gas does suck, i would check the tire pressure. you may see a difference in milage if you bump up the pressure a pound or two. i have an 05 4.7 that gets 18/19 around town and 23/24 on the highway. i was running the 3.55 gears but swapped them out for the 4.10. big difference all around. less strain on the motor in stop and go traffic and hardly and rpm gain on the highway

tire pressure makes little to no difference. i was running my smaller tires at 50 PSI( max) and its still a pig.
