Are they really worth putting on? I have thought about putting one on but was wanting to get some feedback first. What are the pros and cons of them?

I LOVE mine, reusable andvery easy to clean, great looking and great gains. I have the K&N Filtercharger System (Cold Air Intake). I recommend K&N over anything.

Yes, if your gonna get one do it right, get the K&N FIPK(Fuel Injection Performance Kit)aka: cold air intake. They cost more than a simple replacement filter, but the performance gains are worth it. <img border="0" src=smileys/smiley2.gif border="0">

Hey Mitch ... <IMG src=smileys/smiley1.gif border="0"></P>

I have a Airmax CAI (cold air intake) system on my truck, and its pretty awesome. It has the K&amp;N filter. </P>

its kind of expensive, or at least it was when i bought it. </P>

</P>

</P>

</P>

I would totally go with the K&amp;N filter, even if you dont get the whole Intake system!! <IMG src=smileys/smiley1.gif border="0"></P>

the k&amp;n kit is the same as using larger diameter PVC piping...the PVC route is cheaper, easy to piece together, easy to paint, and gets you the same results...as for filters...you're talking freeing up at MOST 3hp, a fram performance filter does the same as a k&amp;n...</P>

</P>

...and to date...i don't know of any real "Cold" air intakes...most of the "cold air intakes" are open element-the take in "warm" air for the engine compartment...the air box the filter is already in is actually a heat resistanttype of plastic, so, actually,you already havea "cold air intake"...</P><edited><editID>leifinator</editID><editDate>38016.8151736111</editDate></edited>

Yes good point, thats why i didnt say i have a TRUE CAI system <IMG src=smileys/smiley2.gif border="0"></P>

But the system that i have is better than the "heat resistant type of plastic" that is already there, yet it does not completely take in just cold air. I realize that, and if i was gonna be racing my truck more than i already do, then i would probably worry more about the 'the best part for more hp' </P>

I mean i can also say that my CAI system sucks because it has the rubber connector...... see above. But it works great for my daily driver </P>

You have to sit back and decide what would be better for your life style, how much money you want to spend (PVC pipe is cheap), If you want to turn as much HP as you possibly can, i would research to find the best possible way to induce cold air into the engine. But from your question on if K&amp;N is worth it..... K&amp;N is a great filter and would be a good addition to any vehicle.</P>

SORRY to be so long winded </P>

I've got a K&amp;N stock replacement filter on my Cummins powered Ramand even that simple swap made a significant difference. My Dakota is breathing through Airaid's system for the 4.7 and that also made a real big difference. She isn't choking for air anymore and if you can keep your right foot out of it you just might see an extra MPG. Pros 2 - Cons 0

So what you're saying is it isn't the one on the right? Looks like I've been doing it wrong the whole time. <IMG src=smileys/smiley4.gif border="0"></P>
