so i need a little help.

i went to start my truck and it wouldnt start... i got a jump and it ran. i put it in reverse backed out but when i went to put in drive the rpm's dropped and it died. i repeated the process with the same result...

the truck is an 02 dakota automatic.

what could the issue be?

 

It could be a neautral safety switch, bad battery, loose ground the list could go on. Start by swapping batteries with someone and see if it works, if so the N Safety Switch is fine. From there you should be getting the altenator checked and so on
