Throttle Bodies on `05 Dakota Suggestions / Pic

I've been doing a lot of reading and read that TB spacers are a waste of money and people suggest changing the TB for a Fastman TB.
My question is i see lots of people drilling or cutting in to their current TB for performance, has anyone tried or looked at a `05 Dakota v8 4.7l to see what can be done to the TB? I dont know enough about them to just start drilling in to it and wanted some advice, also if i remove the air intake will i see what size the TB is on mine or does anyone know already what size the `05 4.7l have? If my reading on here is correct i should have a 68mm, i also want to swap out my current stock air filter with a ( K&N Air Filter 33-2175 ) since theres no cool/cold air intakes for the `05's. Hell it's got to be better then the stock one anyway and maybe i'll get some gain out of it to. Any suggestions?

P.S. Is there a printed Dyno Test anywhere of any HP gains from the Fastmans TB for Dakota's?
Also if I go with the Fastman TB should i stick with a 68mm or go to the 70mm? I'm not going to do much more to engine area except headers and chip later on.

I purchased the K&N Air-Filter today. I'll take some photos to compare the two later.
The K&N came with a stick on rubber gasket for the top half of the intake. The K&N isnt nearly as thick as the factory one.
From a dead stop the truck seemed truely more Responsive when pressing the pedal and maybe it was my ears but the exhaust and engine both sounded better the engine seemed to run better as well.
While replacing the filter today i noticed that the air-intake ran out the passenger side engine wall which i thought was nice it not getting any of the warmer air that may be out infront of the truck in summer time stop and go traffic.
No Cold/Cool Air-Intakes are out yet for the `05 dakotas and to tell ya the truth with the setup it has now seems to run just fine and it seems to be getting all the air it wants or needs. Any input on this?
Catch ya's later.

I got the air filter and it seems to work really well. i recommend one if you dont already have one or a K&N Intake already.
BTW does anyone know about Throttle Bodies?
A better throttle Body is on my list of things to do so when it came down to it all i'd have to do is slap it in and go.
Thanks for stopping by.
The fastman t/b is a very good mod, you will like it, four screws & two sensors to change. takes about 20 minutes to do. Think about an ASP underdrive pulley about an hour to chg. also a very good mod. then do the H.O. cams & you are off to the races. the 3.92 with the lsd is a good rear diff for these trucks if you also do a lot of hwy. driving. no e-fan on the 05 but flexalite is making one & at 3000cfm will make plenty of air for cooling with these mods you are looking at about 900.00 dollars in parts & about 7 to 8 hrs. of labor to install. good luck

Man,...
For $1540.00 @ $80.00 an hour for labor you got yourself a deal.
Where and when can we do this? Do i come to you or you want to do the work here because i can't find those figures anywhere around my area.
Hehe,.. just kidding but no really,.. where you getting those figures for the parts for an 05 Dakota at?Man,.. now you got me searching the web again,.. lol

Take care.
Jim.
well, I'm about to put an intake on my 05 Dakota 4.7....all it requires is a 90 degree bend and a 45 degree bend...once I get the proper connectors and run it tonight at the track for a baseline, I'll take pictures of the finished product and post it up for you all.

I am going on what I paid for those items & thats to me in alaska where freight kills ya. Did all the work with a friend of mine. That is how long it took us. Longest job was the cams and that was like 4 hrs. I swapped everything over to the 05 from the 03 & have had no problems with anything, everything fit right up out of the 03. The 4.7 is still the same as far as I can tell. Jusy order for the 03 or 04 and you will be alright at least for the engine. the only one that could be a problem is the intake clearance issue, I have the 360 kool shot which they do not list on their site anymore don't know why fits & works great.
I bored out my throttle body on my 03' 4.7L (later model 03 motor). There is a small lip or ridge on the throttle body that can be ground flat so that the TB is a true 68mm. Before I bored it out, it had a slight hesitation when you nailed the throttle. Now the hesitation is no longer there. This really did improve the throttle response and was one of my most noticable modifications on a budget. When I bored it out, I had only an exhaust and high flowing intake.
Cams should be quite a noticable gain, I am waiting until my warranty is up to do cams.

I didn't wait for the warranty to end before swapping cams, Unless you tell them I don't think there is any way 99% of service mgr's could tell you did the swap just my 2 cents & they do make a real diff. right off.
