fan 2001 dakota 4.7
just a question, has anyone had a dakota where the fan control will only work on high. i mean, the heat, defroster nor the air will come on unless you turn the fan control **** to the high position. if anyone has had this problem, was it the fan or the control and can it be fixed without taking it to the dealer?
thanks for any advice in advance!

the last time I experienced this, I ended up having to replace the resistor...not the switch....they are not expensive,....at least they werent....but that was an older vehicle...not the new ones....i would venture its the same....
thanks for your reply, and you were correct, according to the leith dodge the blower motor resistor is bad. my wife dropped it off yesterday and they just called, it is repaired. parts and labor $158.31 which they said is standard cost right out of the book. i know i probably got scr**ed but i do not have a service manual for this truck yet. all of my experience in the past is on toyotas. i'm still looking for a factory service manual, they a very expensive for the dakota!

The part costs $9.25 right from the dealer computer connection for Chrysler (means all dealers have this price standard)... and it does NOT take two hours in install... how much of the charge was Labor?! Did they charge you a diagnostic fee too?
