Can ya weld? I did a few body lifts on Jeeps over the years and it was common that the steering shaft wasn't quite long enough. It might sound scary but it really is a simple and common thing to cut the shaft and place an extension in it. I've also used an extension from Ididit that I don't see that they sell anymore but you might find from another aftermarket column company that was just bolted to the end of the original column and then the collapsible piece was just bolted to it. If you do decide to weld it take your time and inspect your work often for sings of cracking and fatigue but there's a lot less stress in a rack and pinion steering system than a traditional gearbox setup.
