2000 3.9L V6, I get about 19mpg for about 80% city driving and about 23mpg for highway driving. I have gotten as good as 25 mpg on one trip I was so shocked. And I have no mods and I do have servale hard lanches and such on each tank of gas just to make sure it will still run( or to beat a stock honda civic which is always fun).
I drive mostly steady speeds on interstates or divided state highways. Without the trailer I average about 16 city, 21 highway. With the trailer I see about 11 city, 15 highway. My truck is a 2000 CC, 4.7, auto and 3.55 gear. The trailer is a 6x12 double axle enclosed. About 3500lbs average tow weight.
Not sure I believe it yet seeing i just got my truck yesterday, but the last owner's trip computer showed average of 16mpg. I filled the tank today and reset the computer and it is showing about 18 to and from work, 12 miles each way on a state highway with some stoplights near my work. Best I have seen was 26mpg on the instant meter on a flat section of the highway.
I can't say for sure, but it's definetelypiss-poor. Driving a haggard, run-down V6 Cavalier costs me $15 a day driving to and from work...the Dakota costs $25+...I can barely afford to drive the truck.
