Default What happens when you ignore the chain tap noise.

So its a little before midnight on Wednesday. I stop to put $20 in the tank. I start the truck and notice it wont run for crap. I assume I got bad gas. I tow it back to the house, use my scanner to command the fuel pump on and drain the tank. I use a fluid extractor to drain the button of the tank and flush it out with cleaner. put $10 worth of fresh fuel in and notice... no change...

Now for the last year or so I've noticed while at idle I can hear a tapping noise coming from the front engine cover. I assume its a timing chain tensioner broken. I pull the front cover off to find pieces of my (about a year ago I have the motor short blocked and completely rebuilt including a new timing chain component kit.) timing chain guides on the button of the crank housing. My father gave me the timing chain component kit for Christmas last year. Sadly I found out he had purchased it from Ebay. So my warning to you folks is if you cherish your dak's with the 4.7, stay away from timing chain kits from ebay. This has turned out to be quite the headache. A $50 timing chain kit has cost me around $300 to repair the correct way. That doesn't include the $50 tow bill, and the $60 UHUAL trailer to get it to my house.

This is what it sounded like when I FINALLY got it to at least idle..
