So what did you pay for you Dakota?
$10,500 in 2003. '98 model ext cab V-8 with 73K on it and custom topper. The guy traded it in on a PT Cruiser....LOLZ !!! I have 183K now, 110K on the engine, 75K on the transmission, about to get some paint work done, has never left me stranded... I have no plans to replace it as of now.

2002 Quad-cab, 4.7, automatic, 2 wheel drive, AC, power windows & locks. Got it new for $22,000 if memory serves. It has 267,000 and is starting to nickle and dime me to death. I gotta do something about that head liner - I'm starting to get a crick in my neck!
Just bought my 1998 Dakota Sport 2 days ago.
It has 151k miles and is listed in KBB at $4300 to $5300.
In it's present condition, the $4.3k is probably the current value.
Putting another $1 to 1.5k into it should get it up to top value.
I paid $1,500 for it.
The major problems are:
The interior smells like an old stale ashtray.
Tranny needs bands adjusted.
Very minor paint and body issues on Passenger side.
