Default Question about my '87 Dakota

I just bought a 1987 Dodge Dakota 3.9L V6 5-spd.

Has anyone had any problems with the 3.9L V6 engine?

Are the 1987-88 Dakota's a decent truck? Are there any common problems with these models?

If theres any worthwhile knowledge anyone knows about these trucks... I'm very new to Dodge and would really appreciate any help.

Thanks

Default RE: Question about my '87 Dakota

My ex girlfriend's Grandpa had a 89 dakota with a 3.9 and it had 225000 miles on it last time I saw it and it was running great, I think it liked to leak some oil but I'm pretty sure it just needed some valve cover gaskets, the 3.9 is an LA block meaning it's the exact same design as the 5.2 and 5.9 in fact the 3.9 has the same bore and stroke as a 318 or 5.2 Mother mopar does this to save some cash, and I don't blame her. The new 3.7 is that way with the 4.7 it's called modular engine design. But anyway the 3.9 is a good engine.
