the 340 is a good motor. I would love to have one, but there pretty hard to come by.
what year is your dakota? it would be a fairly easy swap. I think they have the same engine mounts as the 318 but don't quote me on that.

Its not a hard swap but the mounts will not fit .You will have to make or buy them aftermarket .They are about $400.The 318,340 and 360 have front ear mounts. The dakota 3.9,5.2 and 5.9 have mid mounts flat against the block.
