'07 Laramie - Auto-Dimming Rearview Mirror?
I took delivery of my factory-ordered '07 Laramie in December '06. Everything was fine - until I noticed the mirror. Everything I'd seen indicated the Laramie package comes with an auto-dimming rearview mirror, but mine has the cheap "day/night" mirror. The dealer tells me Dodge doesn't include this mirror for '07.
Yes, it's a little thing, but it annoys me that the '06 had it, my '00 Dakota Sport had it, but the '07 doesn't - and I paid premium bucks for the top-of-the-line trim package (adding 4.7 Flex,AWD, sunroof and just about every otheroption available). Frankly, I feel a bitcheated by Dodge. When I start paying attention to the little things like this, I start noticing the absence of the underhood light, too (another little thing my '00 had). Thankfully, I never had a need for it with my '00, but it was nice to know it was there to help if I ever needed to prowl under the hood at night.
This blemishes what has otherwise been a rather pleasant experience. The AWD is damned near impossible to put into a skid in wet turns (as compared to my'00 with manual transmission)and the ABS brakes work as advertised (as tested in recent snows). I like the power of the 4.7L V8 and the handling is quite a bit better than the '00 (also a 4x4). Frankly, the ride is almost Chevy-like on the straights without the roll Chevy's tend to exhibit in the turns(at least their 4x2's).
Having gotten spoiled with the auto-dimming mirror on my '00 (and on my wife's old Grand Cherokee not to mention her new BMW), I havea fewquestions:
1. Doesthe '06 auto-dimming mirror fit the '07? Is the '07 wired for the mirror?
2. For those who installed an aftermarket model, which one did you get? Did you install it yourself? Any gotchas to watch for?
Thanks.

they do (my '06 SLT has one) but i thought that was only if you got the UConnect system (because all the phone controls are right on the mirror), which, i believe as Graythang mentioned, was discontinued for 07.
does anybody know if you can get the autodimming mirror on non-UConnect trucks?

disregard the above--looks like you can get auto-dimming without having to get UConnect.
whether you can get it in '07s or not is a different question, and one that i don't know the answer to.

I put an auto dimming mirror w/ compass and temp in my 05. If you are going for just an auto dimming mirror, they run about $99 at autoanything.com. Look for internet coupons (google autoanything coupon) and you can save some extra money. Wiring it up for power is really simple. My wife's Envoy came with an auto dimming mirror, that's what got me hooked. If you do get one, make sure you get the wire cover that goes from the mirror to the headliner.
BTW, there is only one company that manufactures these mirrors and supplies them to all of the car makers, so you are not really getting an "aftermarket" one.
