Front Window - No Seal On Top
Hello All,
I bought my '04 Dakota last fall and noticed all kinds of crap getting in between the top of my front windshield and the roof. I kept thinking, "What a stupid design."
Yesterday, (yes almost 8 months later) I realized that it's not a stupid design after all....THE ENTIRE STRIP OF MOLDING IS MISSING.
Anyone else have this problem? I'm wondering if mine wasn't cannibalized at the dealership for parts. This, coupled with a loose bolt in my front steering system that almost led to my brakes falling off has led me to mistrust Dodge QC.
Thanks,
CS

I recently bought a 04 Dakota club cab 4X4. While washing it I also discovered that there is not a top molding on the window. After looking at several 04 Dakotas I have found that there is not a top molding on any of them. I guess this is the way it was designed. I have not had a problem with leaking yet.
that is the way many auto makers are doing it now. it started with audi and vw. but now many are going without the upper molding. not only does this allow dirt to get in there, it also makes it VERY difficult for glass replacement, because in replacing an auto glass scratches do happin, which is not a problem as long as the company doing the replacement uses quality products and primes the pinchweld to prevent rust. the problem is the primer is black, so if your vehicle is not black the primer shows up. this is not that bad if you have a dark color, but if you have a light color it shows up real bad. so some companys are just not priming the pinchweld area counting on the fact that it will 2 years for rust to form and their guarantee is less than that. the lowest price is not always the way to go. IMHO!
