Default My exhaust

So I found out that 2.5 inch exhaust is stock for my car, 89' shelby daytona, and I was wondering how the 3 inch would sound, anyone done it>? Hows it sound and how does it perform?

It's actually not much louder than stock. I'm sure that it performs great, but I never got around to it on my Shelby Z's. I have heard the 3" on one earlier this year and since it was the full 3" out the rear it was fairly quiet.

Sounds great on my 89 GTS. Keep in mind that to get the full performance gain, you'd want to put on a 3" swingvalve. Anyway, I have a resonator and Warlock muffler and it is practical and not all that annoying for daily street use.

Your Daytona has a 2.5" SV and downpipe, but it goes to 2.25" iirc after the cat. At least that is the way my GTC is, and I think they started that in 89. It was 2.25" SV to 1 7/8 in TI cars pre 89.

Okay, thanks guys, I was thinking that instead of spending the money right now for the 3" mandrel bent exhaust, Im just going to put a straight pipe in the cat's place. I have a suspicion that my cat is causing alot of backpressure, and it stinks horridly, so I think eliminating that would be sufficient. I will let you know how it goes.
