I know this is a stupid question, but i come to you the people who own these vehicle for help. I am buying a 86 2.2 turbo I, engine to put in my 85 non-turbo laser. I have read on review sites and on www.fueleconomy.gov but the info i am getting differs a lot from source to source. So far i have heard 18-25 city, 30-38 highway.

I want to hear it from people who own these Turbo I engines, what MPG's are you getting and what can i expect.

I get 28mpg in the 92 Lebaron vert (TI) but it weighs about 3200 lbs - about 300+ lbs more than your laser.

The TII Lancer gets 29MPG but has a few mods and weighs about 3100lbs. Both are sticks BTW

 

Well I have two cars that very since one had the turbocharger changed back in Sept...

My 87 Shelby Z with the 2.2L TII 5speed..got 36mpg on the hwy...however after swaping out for the Mitsu it dropped down
to 27mpg! :-(

My 88 ShelbyZ w/2.5L TII 5 speed gets 35-38mpg on the HWY! Once recorded 40.2mpg in the U.P. of Michigan back in October
coming back from Whitefish Point to Machinaw City.

I'm hoping to get my Garrett back on soon :-)

86 Turbo I motor..

I would say auto about 24-26, stick about 27-31..
