Default help

hey,
im new to the daytonas and i just got me a 87 daytona shelby z. and i have some qustions is my motor the one with 174hp? and i was wanting a cold air for it and chrome pipes for the turbo how to i do that? thanks.

It depends on what transmission you have, if it's a stick or auto.

87 shelby z with auto=2.2l turbo 1 (146 horse)
stick=2.2l turbo 2 (174 horse)

to be positive, check your vin number and see what it says for the engine...

If you want Chrome/Aluminum pipes you will have to get a custom setup. Check out these sites for universal kits to see if they have what you need or you can check out turbododge.com. Basically what you have to do is take the pieces of piping in the configuration they will fit in there and get them welded together. It's a little more time consuming to do it that way though. You may want to consider a silicone kit instead.

The 174hp 2.2L Turbo II is intercooled and the Turbo I isn't. If you have the Turbo II it only comes with a 5sp. manual A555 Getrag transaxle and it has an ID tag attached to the top of it, below the air box, with the info stamped on it.

Here is a picture of a Turbo II with it's upper intercooler hose in the blue box (the intercooler is mounted next to the radiator), if yours doesn't have this it's not a Turbo II:
