chargeing problems

i have a 1989 dodge daytona with a 2.5L non-turbo and it was overcharging and i replaced the alternator and it continued 2 do it so i pulled the computer out 2 check with the parts store 2 c when they could get 1 n and after i put the old 1 back n it stopped overcharging and now it isn’t charging at all. i ran the car 2 town and had 2 push start it cuz the battery was dead, any help would b nice

Run a diagnostic and check which codes you get. Directions on how to do that and what the coes mean can be found here: http://www.allpar.com/fix/80s-codes.html

Check your cables and wires and fuses and grounding points, yes I know all that is cliche but worth your time to inspect. Also, you didn't specify whether you had the battery tested. A lot of times the battery can be the culprit. I've had my share of electrical problems, and in my case I had somewhat similar symptoms because my battery actually shorted out and fried the alternator along with two 60 amp Maxi fuses. Sometimes idiots testing your system is also a problem. I had one guy tell me my alternator was bad, switched it and said it really wasn't bad, when it really was! Talk about incompetency! All of the electrical is intertwined to form a circuit, and every piece of the circuit is a piece of the puzzle. Sometimes more than one thing could be wrong. Your diagnostic will tell you something for sure, but you can have the battery checked too.

well i have ckecked all my wires and stuff like tht and it is still over charging even with a new computer and alternator and if the car is runnin and i disconnect the battery all 2gether it is still over charging, so i am wonderin if it is the voltage regulator and if it could b do i need 2 take it 2 a dodge dealship 2 get it checked, fixed, or replaced
