2.2 and 2.5 making a 2.3
It all depends on how crazy you wanna get, you could go all custom and put a hemi in there. It all depends on what you wanna do, but the bigger you start with the better your gonna be.

that is why i ask before i went out and tryied it. it sounded kinda odd to me and it didn't really make a hole lot of sence but i thought i would ask any way. i was planning on biuld a motor when i get home so would you say it would be better to biuld a 2.5 l instead of a 2.2 l ? i can get a 2.5 l block with ease but i already have the 2.2l . would there be any real major chance that would have to be done to do that kinda swap?

remember what I said about boring out a 2.2L, to me it is the best of both worlds...you get alittle bit more displacement
and you keep your stroke the same...meaning you can still rev high.
you must remember a 2.5L does not rev as high as a 2.2L, if you not out drag racing, 2.5L will be good for you, if your racing then a 2.2L is your motor .

i have an 87 shelby z with the 2.2l . i was planning on do some mild curciut racing at a track close to where i live. i was think about just getting another block so that i can drive the car til the new engine is all done. with all of the goodies and do the swap over the winter months. then i have a nice new fresh ride for the spring.
i not that interested in doing the rear wheel drive coversion with what i want the car for. it just wouldn't be all that pratical to me. i guess what i want is an engine that will rev qiuckly and high or a nice balance between the two. so it kinda sound like a2.2 block might be a little better for my needs if i am understanding what you are all saying. and it has to have torque. torque wins races.
