hey all, buying a 1990 daytona 6ycl auto and the thing wont shift out of park? shifter moves freely, are these cabled or linkage or are the asy to fix? it smokes a little blue also, but has plenty of power, it seems anyway, it has been sitting for about 7 months and i pretty much bought it for the cd player, but it may be a good daily driver if i can fix a few things? any help is appr. greatly,

It sounds like something is either in a bind or broken, most likely broken since it moves freely. As you may already know, the blue smoke means that it's burning oil.

 

does anyone know how to pull the inner doorpanels without breaking them? there are no visible screws or tabs and i dont just want to break them off i want to sell it for parts or scrap... i'll take 75 bucks for the whole car minus the door speakers....

There should be a couple of screws behind round plugs that match the interior and all the rest should just be clips. Remove all of the hidden screws and then just pull on the panel and it should just pop the clips out with the door panel.

 

man if only i had 75 dollars no just kidding
the panels most likely have one time x-mas tree style clips if i recall correctly they pry out and usually get one use only cost about 2.50 at a dealer or a fast fix at murray prob 2.50 for a 10 pack

I don't know about the shifter problem, but the smoke is easy. Every 3.0 litre chrysler
v-6 made before 92 smokes or will soon start to smoke. They are those damn Mitsubish motors. Every one of them had bad valve stem oil seals. I'm just saying that from experience. just about every second car I see with the 3.0 smokes.

 

The plate around the door handle slides after you remove the screw behind the handle. Pull slowly - there are ones that you cant really see. There is one in the door handle grab iirc.

 

Im interested in the daytona... could scrap some parts off it and put it into mine...
