Default Dodge 2.5l 4 cyl.

I was wondering, did the 2.5l 4 cylinder dodge ever have a points system? I have a 90' Daytona with a 2.5l 4 cylinder electronic distributor and was told if I could find what year dodge 2.5l had points to bypass all electric and my car would start. If the 2.5l never had points would the 2.2l 4 cylinder with points work in the 2.5l? Thanks!

Kind of confusing, but I think the answer will be no. You cannot us a coil pack instead of your distributor, and no you cannot eliminate the external coil on the distributor setup. I have only seen these things done on hybrid motors. Hope this answers your question. What kind of problems are you having? What is the car?

The car is a 90' Daytona with a 2.5l 4 cylinder. Problems? You name it, I'm having them. First I thought it was a fuel issue but everything is turning towards the electrical. I was told by several sources to check default codes, check for spark, if rotor button turns and to see if possibly the timing belt is broken or hall effect is bad. Thanks for your help, Rob.

What were the conclusion of those tests you did? Will it not run at all?

Bought all new parts and had them installed and still don't have anything. ( no fire or start ) I never realized how expensive electronic ignition parts were compared to the old points system.

Need to bust out the haynes are start checking signals. You scanned the computer and there are no CEL codes? Did the rotor turn when you cranked it? Does it have fuel but no spark?
