anyone know why my 91 v6 3.0 dodge daytona speedometer works only half the time? for some reason the speedometer doesnt want to work all the time. id say about half the time it doesnt want to work. I will know if the speedometer is going to work when i just start going down the road. Once in awhile when the speedometer doesnt work, ill be driving down the road and it will all of a sudden kick in and start to work. I replaced the speed sensor in the transmission but that didnt correct the problem. it seems like if the car sits for 2-3 hrs in between start ups it works fine. any advice would be appreciated. thanks

 

check all your grounds../////and check the plug in the back of your dash..

 

also check where it goes into the trany mine went bad there

 

And pray the circuit board isn't bad!

 

Could also be the cable itself.Mine did the same thing especially when it got cold.I replaced the guage first and it still did it.
replaced the cable and it was fine.

 

turns out i recently just replaced the computer in my car and away went my speedometer troubles. thanks for ur help
