Ok, so there may be one more variable, but I'm not sure about it. At one point, a battery was possibly hooked up wrong, meaning the terminal leads were connected to the wrong posts on the battery. So what would be the results of this to the electrical system?

You may have fried the pcm. The procedure i told you bypasses all that so it shouldn't matter unless there is an issue with the fuel pump.
