RE: v8 kit?
I just purchaced a rebuilt 318 and a used dakota rack to put in my 89 daytona and was wondering what are some of my options when it comes to the rear end and transmission. I really would like to have a manual trans and thats what the car is now. As for the rear end I have measured up some at a junkyard and found that a camaro rear axle would be close to fitting. I would just like some of your input on whats easiest to work with as well as be somewhat cheap. Thanks for any answers and I will be purchasing a k member from exline soon.

RE: v8 kit?
as far as what rear will be easiest it really soesent make much difference unless you can find one the right width . i found the E body barracuda rears are the right width but i still had to redrill the axles for the right wheel bolt pattern. so the camaro might be the right size just make sure it is at least as you need it so if you have to narrow it you can.
i ran a 4 speed in mine so thats no problem . i am running a T56 6 speed now you can also get a hydraulic clutch kit from mcleod..you could really use about any transmission you want . I have used the A833 4 speed T56 six speed and the 727 automatic but i am sure you could fit anything else in there if you wanted.I f you are useing a 4 speed the e body transmission works best because the shifter is closer to where it needs to be.

There are places that offer new transmissions with the adapter to attach it to the engine. Your choice of transmissions really depends on the engine of choice and the availability of adapters for it and the trans.

Hey- long time no see. Welcome back, and all that. You may want to check your e-mail from your website... One of my instructors wants your input on a project of his. And we just got an 88 Daytona Shelby Z TurboII that I'm going to keep stock. Any idea where to get the blasted T-Top seals for one of these?!
