the new guy
hi all. i'm new to this site. i have a 90 daytona, 2.5 non-turbo. both of my headlights quit moving at the same time. but the lights still come on. what can i do. also, does anyone know where i can get a body kit that doesn't look like every other one out there.
i would leave it the way it is. these cars are not imported tuner cars. i personally don't want to see them as what most poeple would call a riceer.
to find a body kit that is different would have to be made from scratch. alot of body kits today are use one idea and made to fit a large array of vehicles.
the head light problem, could be either something with the wiring to the motors a bad fuse or maybe the motors burned out it is kinda hard to say but maybe some one else will know after all that is what this forum is for

Chances are pretty good that the headlight motors are shot. This is very common with the Daytonas that's why Dodge got rid of the pop up headlight setup in '92 . I've had 3 1990 Daytonas and they all did the same thing and every time it was the motors. All I did was run a jumper wire from the motors to the battery and they didn't move which indicated they were shot. If you try this and they do move then is most likly a wiring or fuse problem. You can also unplug the motors and use a mutimeter on the plug ends, turnig the healight switch on and see if you are getting power to the motors. If you are getting power to the motors but they are not moving then the motors are shot. Also, you can look under the hood by the headlight assembly you will see a round ****, this is for manual headlight operation. All you have to do is turn it and the headlights will manually move up and down. On my cars I had to turn them quite a bit to get the headlights all the way up and if they quit working in the up position then your lucky. As far far as a body kit I really don't think there is anything differnt that the stock looking kits. The Daytona is an awesome ride that has been seriously ignored by the aftermarket. Hope I helped a bit. Best of Luck!!
Thanks for taking the time to reply, daytonafreak. I have a $70 multimeter, unfortunately, I misplaced it while moving, but the second I find it, I'll try the trick with the motor harnesses. I would have never thought of the motors, seeing that it's odd that BOTH of the motors would go out at EXACTLY THE SAME TIME. As far as the body kit, I guess I'll have to find one from a 90 camaro and mod it to fit. I can't stand having my car look like every on like it. After all, originality is what gets things remembered.
I was looking for a body kit on Ebay but never found one. Looks like it is hard to get aftermarket parts for these cars. But I agree, they do look very sharm even without them. If you paint your lower panels and do a nice paint job, you won't even need a body kit. My Daytona is white and I am planning to paint it with bright white color, then lower panels in dark shiny blue and 2 racing strips on the hood with same color. Something like 1990 Camaros have. It should look very cool. You might play around with colors too.
