Default Daytona modifications help

This is a long story. I used to have a 1987 Daytona Pacifica, but had an engine fire. I was able to save the ground effects, the rims, the bumper, the fenders, and doors. I had bought a 1989 Daytona CS, which currently isn't running. It needs a head gasket, which won't be much of a problem I hope. While it's been sitting, it was hit in the front.

Now, what I wanted to do, since the CS didn't have any ground effects, was throw my old Pacifica's ground effects on it. Now, I need a new front end, too. The Pacifica's didn't survive the fire. I was going through some pictures and I really like the front ends on the Turbo Z's from 84-86. I can easily get a front end and hood off an 85, but the front is slightly different from the Turbo Z's front end. Someone told me the only difference was the bottom half and that somehow bolted onto the regular front end. I can't see how that would work. Does anyone know how the Turbo Z front end goes together, and if I can easily attach it to the front end of the 85...then stick that on my 89? Do you think it would look right on the 89? I know for sure it would look different, but I don't know if the door molding on the sides would match up. I've never seen a Turbo Z up close.

Your big problem will be going from pop up headlights to regular headlights. I don't know if the older nose will fit on the newer cars. If it does, it should look pretty good.

I've been told that I'd may need to mount the 85 fenders on the 89 to make the front end fit. However, on my old 87, I had a fender from an 86 Turbo Z that fit perfectly fine with the newer style front end. The wiring sounds fun. Real fun. I am working with a whole 85, though, so I can grab as much of the wiring out of it as possible if I need it. I'd fix up the 85 if it wasn't more than 3/4 rust, so it's a donor car now.

If it worked with the other then it should work with these as well. I know what you mean about rust.[sm=smiley7.gif]

Let's see,the fenders are the same up until 92-ish (I have an 89 fender on my 85 and it matches the other). The only things I think you would need are the front bumper cover/grill piece, a hood, and the upper radiator support/cross piece. Plus the headlight buckets and misc. bits and pieces like hood latch and braces here and there.

Good god, man. Other threads of this vintage are clear back on page 30. How many hours did you spend on this forum before resurrecting this?[sm=icon_rofl.gif]
