Mysterious miss...
88 Daytona Shelby Z Turbo II, had a bad lifter rattle, found out a couple of the hydraulic lash adjusters were bad- replaced all 8. put everything back together, now car has a "mystery miss". Checked, double checked, then rechecked the timing- not the problem. New plugs, wires, cap, rotor, Hall-Effect- still missing. Acts like one cylinder is not getting fuel or spark, and I know its getting both. Good compression. Any clues? Turbo also doesn't seem to be pulling like it should either, seems to be off in the boost area, if ya know what I mean... This is the car that had the mysterious stalling problem that was fixed with the new Hall-Effect.
Let's see... Today we rechecked the timing... again, we are positive now that it's getting spark to all 4 cylinders, and it's getting fuel to all 4 cylinders. One thing we DID find though, #3 cylinder appears to be the one not firing until the rpm hits about 3000, anything below that and it doesn't fire. Pulled all 4 plugs and #3 has fuel on it (wet). Did a compresion test on all 4 cylinders and it came back good (within spec anyway). Made sure the plugs were all gapped right (they were) and put 'em back in. Fired the car up and noticed a ticking coming from the #3 injector. WTF? Anybody got any ideas? We are 100% positive that the injector is making this ticking noise.
Could the injector be stuck open, putting too much fuel into the cylinder and "flooding" it? I know a flooded cylinder doesn't like to fire until some of the fuel clears out (ie. higher rpm). What do you guys/gals think?

Injectors do make a click noise if you listen to them, from what you are describing is a bad injector..now I need to ask this question.
What kind of shape is your injector harness??
I ran into this earlier this year..I had a bad harness ($105 dollar fix) and after it was swapped out it ran just fine..

The harness is a possibility. Are the harness's still made? I know a lot of the wiring parts for my 85 aren't available anymore. I still have the injectors and fuel rail of the 91 "donor car", might still have the harness.
Well, got the miss taken care of. Turned out to be an injector stuck open. If you ever come across a product called "SeaFoam" (not the chocolate covered stuff!), BUY IT!!! This stuff is incredible! You can use it in the fuel, oil, and in the vacuum lines, depending on what you want to clean. Half a can and 5 gallons of premium got the 88 Turbo running right in less than a minute. I put the rest in the oil. I even went out and bought 2 more cans of the stuff, one in my wifes windstar and one in my 85 Laser, and you would not BELIEVE the difference.
