hi my friend has a 89 shelby dayton with about 90,000 miles on it. he just got it for $1200. It has the 2.2 intercooled motor in it. anyways most of the time its really fast but everyonce in a while it cuts out when he pushes it. hes not sure quite why its happening or what could be causing it. thanks

 

Sounds like it might be the ignition cuting out. Is he hitting the rev limiter? It might also be spark blow out, a possible problem with forced induction engines. Here is something he should do regardless, but if this is the case it will solve his problem. He should get an MSD Blaster ignition coil to replace the stock coil, a new set of performance plug wires and a new set of spark plugs (make sure the gap is set properly).[sm=smiley2.gif]

 

Map sensor - almost guarantee it. Check codes and get back to us.

 

That would be a nice and easy fix too., I've never has a bad MAP sensor, so I wouldn't have a clue.[sm=smiley24.gif]
