Default speedo ?

Now that changed the engine out. noticed the speedo is going crazy. drove today and was reading 55 when I was going no more than 30. Any one help. does it have to be recalibrated or is there a sensor bad. Thanks

Did you remove or replace the tranny as well?

No, we supported it in the engine compartment. it is shifting great. We did move around to get the engine loose. I have read about speed sensor or speed distance sensor? where is it located. I just need to fix, it is my son's car and he doesn't need a ticket with the insurance prices for a teenager. outrages. thanks

hey, I wouldn't tell him that the speedo is out - then he'll allways be doing under the sl.

It is located on the passenger side output shaft of the transmission. It is held on by one 10mm bolt. Then, carefully pull up.

If you removed a halfshaft or jostled it around while you were taking the engine out, the gear is made out of plastic and could have been damaged.

There is two or three types of connectors for the speedo sensor, so when you go to the junkyard (what I would do) or parts store, make sure it has the same connector. I think that the gear teeth remained the same.

If that doesn't fix it, it could be the guage.
