NEED HELP PLEASE
Hello,
this is the situation I have a 1989 2.2 turbo 1 and I have had it for over 2 years and have not got it running right once. Heres the symptoms when 1.its cold it starts fine but when it warm it revs up real high. 2. It misses out real bad at lower rpms and at certain spots in certain rpm rangs like around 2,000 but if you stomp on it, it evens out. 3. And a couple of times while I am driving it seem like the fuel just cuts out because it just falls onits face for lik 3 sec then it just runs through it. and it throws a code. I took it to autozone to check it and they said map sensor but that didnt do a thing. So any info at all would b greatly appreciated.
Thanks Dave

Check your vacuum lines and make sure they are in the right places. Also check for vacuum leaks. My buddies 88 Shelby had the same issues and we found that the vacuum lines were all screwed up.
When we got the car all the vacuum lines were jacked up and there is no vacuum guide on the underside of the hood. And the locall junkyards dont have any. And me and my father have tried our best to get them right but to no prevail. So mayb if you have a diagram or know where I can get one from that would great.
Thanks Dave

After getting your vacum lines straightened out, if you are still having problems remove the EGR valve and clean it of carbon buildup buy soaking it in a solvent type cleaner overnight, (Don't submerge the diaphram part of the valve) and then use a small knife blade? (Carefully)brushes etc to clean the inside passages of the valve. After cleaning use a vacum source to see if the valve is working. I hope this helps.[sm=icon_cheers.gif]

Seeing as the problem only occurs when the vehicle is warmed up it could be a faulty Oxygen sensor.

OK we got the vacuum lines fixed and changed the tps sensor and it runs fine except when I get to around 11 pounds and then it kinda bogs down again but for it seems to be running good for everything under 11. And for the egr valve we do not have one on the car. And we put a new o2 sensor in the car about 1 month ago. Thanks So much for all your the help.

I think if you are getting more than 11 Lbs of boost something is wrong, I thought 7-9 Lbs was stock and 9-11 Lbs For the Off road computer, also the cat could be getting plugged up, are you showing anything on your Power Limeted read out now. Our 84 T Z has an EGR didn't know the newer ones don't.[sm=icon_cheers.gif]
