OK guys this is what is going on.
I have a 85 laser XT 2.2 turbo, with a blown 5spd tranny. I have a automatic trannsmission from another 2.2L turbo car.
I also have a 86 laser with the 2.5L non turbo. I need to know if those axels from the 2.5L non turbo automatic car will work on this 2.2L car, and also if the shifter and the shifter linkages will work on the 2.2 car.
do you guys think or know if this will work? any comments/suggestions/ideas are greatly appreciated!

The axles are different. They would fit, but the non-turbo axles would have a very short life. I'm not sure if the cables would work or not. Look for '525' cables as thats what an 85 laser would have.

 

well im not to sure if it will work but you will pull the 5spd any ways so look at the akle to make sure they are the same length and size and the spline is the same. on the side that go,s in the tranny and make sure the nummber of splin is the same count the groves hope this helps......
