They did offer a 16V Daytona. Its the IROC RT. DOHC lotus head...
Sorry what I meant to say was not just for the last two years of the Daytona's but for 87-91 Tona's as well.

i was going thru so old links i had stashed away in favorites and came across this. check em out especialy pic 3

DDG- Shelby Industries
I always display pic #2 with my '86 Turbo Z at shows and cruises.I often wonder what happened to that car, does Shelby still have it, was it crushed or does someone else have it. In factI have a picture somewhere around here that was taken at his California skunkworks (same article as the pics shown, I believe) with a whole row of Omnis, Chargers, Daytonas and even a G-body Laser. What became of all those cars? It's the same with the Turbo and Shelby Z's used on the TV show Hunter. What ever happened to them, are they sitting on some studio backlot like some of the Gereral Lee's were or are they in a california junk yard somewhere. Were they sold to the general public? I also remember reading somewhere that Shelby wanted the '89 CSX to have the AWD/active suspension setup they had developed but, Chrysler killed they idea because they thought no one would pay the price they would have to sell it at (I believe mid 20's) for a Shadow. That's pretty much when Shelby decided to pull the plug.

That engine looks a lot like the 2.0L DOHC engine used in the Neon.
