Default Newbie Neon owner questions

Hey all

Well I'm new to the Neon forum but been here since 2005 going through the Ram forum section we have a 2005 Ram QC. We bought the Neon for my daughter. It’s a basic no frills 2004 Neon with an automatic and a pretty good aftermarket sound system but not much in the performance department. I'm not quite sure what engine is in it, (anyone??) I know it’s a 4-cylinder great on gas. I need everyone’s help on what are the best performance mods to make. I’ll be doing the CAI and muffler upgrades, what else do you all suggest? I couldn’t do too much because of only having so much time back on leave. I’ll do more when I get back home so all I can do is plan. I'll be posting the upgrades when I do them.

Stay cool, H-

You bought your daughter a Neon, but wanna make it quicker??? lol
You have the right idea if you want a little better performance, a CAI and exhaust helps out any car... Larger TB and a UDP would be another step you could take for easy bolt up performance.

There's always an upgrade to a turbo.

CAI don't do much for the Neons. They've basically got one already. But you'll want one if you do a lot to the car.

A little automatic, I'd suggest suspension upgrades. Larger TB is way too soon, and if you don't know how to drive with it, it could prove detrimental. Suspension mods will make it more fun to drive around town with, though.

Honestly I'd start with a magnum head and go from there. UDP will free up a couple of horses as well. Start looking for R/Ts (except the black ones) and take pieces and parts out of them.

I thought you didn't want to put a UDP on a car with a bigger sound system because it takes away from the charging power? I could swore i read that on here SOMEWHERE but maybe im wrong....

Hey all Thanks for the input
Ok what does "UDP" stand for or maybe it's just to early in the morning for it to register. I'm looking into suspension mods too along with a 15" wheel and package.

17's would be great for looks (which maybe a daughter would like better anyway)...but they would lower performance on a basically stock Neon engine. (turning those bigger wheels)
