Default Thinking about trading up to an 09!!

Well I am really thinking about taking the plunge and getting rid of my old 02 an buying an 09 ram 1500. I was just wondering what you guys as current 09 owners think of them? The truck I am looking at is quad cab brilliant black slt with a hemi. Any opinions would help out a lot. Thanks

I love my 09, the new HEMI is a powerhouse! The interior is leaps and bounds above the previous. I have had my 09 since May and have had 0 issues, very happy with my purchase.

Big step up from the '02 you current have, much more refined. BUT, if you're looking for a truck with a lot of aftermarket support or mods, look elsewhere. It's a very modern truck with all the computer controlled safety features.

aftermarket support?

im satisfied with the amount of products out there for an all new vehicle out less than a year..

only things i think were missing is projector headlights and led tail lights...

programmers are slowly coming out.. how many people are really gonna drop a supercharger in these when they come with 400 hp stock?

grilles are out, exhausts...... and.. well im pretty satisfied so far

I disagree with the lack of mods. Give it time, they are coming and we already have a small selection to choose from.

I have 6600 on mine now. Have a strange door issue (does not latch tight). Also the intermittant key FOB issue where it will stop working, but will work after holding the lock button for several seconds. Had a few RRTs done, other than that is has been solid. Much better than my 05 Hemi in several areas.

Just make sure they perform all RRTs before you drive it off the lot and you should be all set.

I've been looking for a good set of wheels for months, none come in our bolt pattern and if they do, the offset is wrong.

Name one programmer that you can purchase today for the '09 Hemi that's worth anything.

We've got what, two lowering kits to choose from. With a 2/4 being the most.

How many grills are available, hoods?

I mean Dodge doesn't even keep the parts for our trucks. How long have people waited for the Parkview cameras. I saw a new thread today about issues with the 20" wheels, guess what, national backorder.

It wouldn't matter if you wanted to bolt on a supercharger or not because there's not one available. And we haven't heard for sure that anyone is going to produce one. Sure, there is a friend of a tech at Vortech that wants to gauge interest but what happened to that.

I'm just laying it out there for him like it is. I mean most of the threads on here are because of what I listed above. I've already bought my truck and patiently waiting for the aftermarket to catch up but quite frankly, the demand still isn't there. I just don't want to see another individual put down $25 - $40,000 on a vehicle hoping to do a lot of aftermarket mods to it.

This is a new gen model. Aftermarket support will come. The biggest reason you don't see alot right now would be the economy. The entire auto market took a dump. Lack of sales means lack of demand for aftermarket items. Dodge has a winner with the new Ram you just need to chill a while... I bought a Pontiac G8 GXP. The car is bad ***!! I want to mod it but there isn't much out there plus they stopped making it so there goes the support!!

To the OP I have had mine for three weeks and it has been great!! No issues.

I used to have a 02 Avalanche. What a P.O.S! It had nice features but the engine sucked, the mileage sucked, the body sucked, the interior sucked - you get the picture.

Now I have the 2009 RAM and couldn't be happier!

As far as the aftermarket support goes, I have a Jeep JK and am a mod junkie. There's a bazillion places to get crap for the JK. Yes, the aftermarket support isn't quite there yet for the Dodge. But in 2007 the shelves were bare for the JK too.

I'm not saying the aftermarket will be anything like the Jeep, I'm just saying that the market will grow as the demand grows. High vehicle sales + good economy + willing buyers = good aftermarket support. I'm afraid we are still pretty much stuck with just 1 out of 3 for now.

I really do like the Ram the way it is. My wife loves the fact that I can't find the crap I want to mod it!
