Default How do the 09 Rams do in the snow

hey gang

I have a TRX4 09 Ram with the Goodyear AT/S tires. I wanted to find out two things from everyone

How do these things do in the snow, and any advice... Sandbags, etc..

And does anyone know if the TRX4 models have a spacer lift from the factory in the front or not?

Thanks gang

TRX4 is a decal package, a wheel package, a shock package, skid plate's. Your Ram will do verry well in the snow and 4 whealing, once you get better tires, Ford, Dodge and Gm put the cheapest, crapy tires they can find on thier trucks and dress them up to look pretty when thier stuck in the snow.

LT rated tires are not standard on half ton trucks, P rated tires are now the norm, better, stronger, higher h/p and tow ratting's and all the makes go backwards with oem tires.

Truck does excellent in the snow, those tires will be fine. I have the 20" goodyears which everyone hates and they performed well last winter in some deep snow. You also have the limited slip diff which I don't have.

The trx model does not have any spacers.

I have owned many 4x4 Rams and still own a 1978 Power wagon (full time 4WD). On the streets when it snows here in Colorado (a lot) my 09 Ram does as well as any 4x4 I have ever driven in the deep stuff. My Ram came stock with P275/60R20 OWL all season tires and they do just fine for me too. I do have the LSD but am not sure how much its helping me in the snow..

Well when I take LSD I am afraid to drive, everyone honks at me cuz I go too slow LOL.
If you have 4 wheel drive bald tires work better than a 2 wheel pickup without weight.

I am in Iowa. I bought the truck in Feb. and driven through snow many times. I have the same tires and never once had a problem. They are a very decent tire. I would compare them to a BFG A/T; I had the BFG's on a Dakota. Unless you want to go bigger, save your money for now and keep them.

Cyclone, do you own a 2009 TRX-4? I am just wondering why you commented on the tires being crappy when you show a 2006 2500 as your truck. Do you have Wrangler AT/S on it?

I hauled my landscape trailer with my tractor and plow around last winter and my truck did really well. I had to turn the ESP off because I couldn't get used to it. Of course that is only like 8" of snow was the worst so I am not much of an example. I kept her in 2 wheel drive except taking off I need 4 wheel. I was happy.

the 09 ram is worse in the snow than my old 06. i hate the esp. we get lots of snow up here and the truck just doesnt fair to well at all. as soon as you hit a lil bit of snow the engine just cuts all your power and no matter how hard to you try and make them tires turn to plow through the snow it just dies. i have to put it in 4 and hold the esp button thing to turn it right off in order just to get unstuck. same thing when out mud boggin. i have to run through the mud in 4 low or the truck just sucks. one of my biggest complaints about this truck.

I will help you out a little, read page 345 and 346 and get back to us about your complaint. You can turn it fully off in 4WD if you follow the steps. If it does not function as it should just take it in.

Cars and trucks were much easier a few years back, now it is almost maditory to read the manual. I will say I like ESP in the rain.
