Mufflex quality?
Well I am not so stupid afterall. After removing the aligning divots and breaking a clamp trying to install my mufflex 24 on my 09 ram sport and hearing rave reviews from everyone else on how easy it was to install I figured it was just me.
I paid $40 to repair broken clamp today, Mufflex doesnt return calls once they have your money, After carefully tightening clamps one of the bolts broke, stupid me. Replaced bolt, tightened again, exhaust still loose, tightened more, still loose tightened more, broken bolt. I cant be that stupid, after examining clamp realized that the ENGINEERS at Mufflex supplied clamps that are the same diameter when closed as the pipes they go around. I was going to call Mufflex and point this out but they wont return my calls, they already have my money.
Anybody thinking of purchasing a Mufflex system should give your heads a shake, save yourself the grief and go to a muffler shop and have them build a system. The Magnaflow sounds great but the mickey mouse hanger is a joke. At least use clamps that fit and have some gearth to them, customer service would be nice to. Message to Mufflex, your customer service sucks , Dont waste your money and time on Mufflex.

I haven't heard many negatives about them but I have heard of the bad customer service.
Someone on another forum had the exact same issue as you and complained about their service.
Some have compalined about the pipes not sealing so they cut more slots around the end of the pipe and that seemed to help

Sound like you need to slide the clamps over the little slits on the fittings. If you slide them to far back towards the muffler you will be fighting a losing battle. If you look at the clamps, you can only tighten them but so much until they are seated up against the spacer. To me, the clamps looked to be identicle to the ones tack welded to the oem muffler.

The ironic thing about this whole thing is, if they used a lower "quaility" pipe (smaller gauge) it would clamp down easier, but then you have a inferior product.

It took me a little longer than an hour, but I left the divots that fitted it onto the stock muffler. I even managed to break a craftsman socket, scared me because I thought I managed to break the bolt. I have a small leak, but can barely notice it, I only see condensation leak out a little. I'll have to crawl under there and tighten it again. The clamps do have to be right on the edge to get a decent seal.
I am having them welded as we speak, had enouph of this crap, have been using a impact gun. I think they should have been using a 2 1/4 clamp, not 2 1/2. The OD on muffler is 2 1/2 and clamp is 2 1/2 when fully compressed, how is it going to tighten. For those of you that havent had any issues, slide under your truck and try to wiggle the pipes, there probably still loose.

After I got everything fitted into the hangers and pushed in, it's not loose. Maybe got unlucky, I'd be pissed to if it happened to me. I still think it was better than paying $670 for a full catback.
I had zero issues with the muffler and the install. In fact it only took me about 50 minutes in the driveway with a 15mm wrench and a can of WD-40.
As for their customer service, yea, that could use a lot of improvement.

I put my stock sport muffler back on after about 3-4 weeks since the 14" was not for me, truck sounded like a '75 Chevy with it. The retro was a great fit, 20 minute install for two ( someone pulling the tails out helps a lot ) though but I see what you mean about a tight fit. On the SIDO muffler, I would hang on mine with a ratchet extension, any tighter and the bolt would have broken but the input side always had black carbon leak stains after about a week. It needs another slot cut so the clamp would crimp it better or just weld it up. I even had the clamp all the way at the end.
I'll sell it for 1/2 the new price to anyone local who likes the 14" sound. Still practically new.
