Default The Right Oil Filter

I just changed oil and filter on my new '09 5.7L truck.
I used a Purolator L 24651 filter. Is this one of the right filters to use? What are some more? How about the filters that Walmart sells?
Thanks,
Jack

Lots of filters of various quality out on the market.Lots are made the same under differant names.Pure 1,Mobil,Wix,Redline,K&N are a few of the better quality ones. Then you got other, less expensive ones. The requirements are a oil/filter every 6 and 6. Pennzoil Platinum or such and one of the above filters and your good to go.try www.bobistheoilguy.com also.Lots of boring talk about oil, filters, lubes etc.

I have always preferred Wix filters. They run a little more than others, but IMO their worth it. For the 5.7 Hemi, here is the model number:

Wix 57899

Motorcraft 820S works as well. Got one on my Ram now. Had a spare when I traded my F-150.

I like the pure ones, but I have seen the coating that they spray on the outside of the can oversrayed into the inside. I now use motorcraft 820S.

Default Fram Filter / Mobil 1 Oil

I use the Fram Toughguard - believe it's the TG16 and really like it. I can get a grip on it and don't have to use any tools to break the filter loose. I'm also running Mobil 1 and change up about every 7k.

The correct Fram number is TG2 not TG16.
